The beginning of May brings another edition of Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (CQAF) to Belfast, UK. Currently in its 19th edition, the festival came to life as an attempt to regenerate the north city center through arts and culture, an area which had fallen into some decay over the last few decades. From its humble first edition, in May 2000, CQAF grew up to become an 11-days extravaganza of music, comedy, theater, art and literature, best known for its socially inclusive agenda and eclectic and cutting-edge programming, that puts "big names", emerging acts, and fringe performances all together. Last year's edition boasted over 60 000 participants who gathered for more than 150 events in the Cathedral Quarter, located in Belfast's city center. Certainly a long way from the initial 5 000 participants in May 2000.
