April Festivals Highlights: Sun, snow & more

Seasons change, but April seems to gather festivals that range from Winter to Summer. Whether you're interested in enjoying the last snow slopes of Spring, or are ready to get your fringe out in the desert, check out our highlights for this month.

Snowbombing Europe

3-8 April / Mayrhofen, Austria

To start the month, could you see yourself getting the chance to check out big names in Hip Hop, alongside great DJs at the height of 8 497 feet (over two and a half kilometers) inside a ski resort? Because that’s what Snowbombing, in an Austrian town named Mayrhofen, has to offer, with hip hop artists Run The Jewels or De La Soul shoving way for cool acts such as Chase & Status, Groove Armada, Grandmaster Flash. Quite the unique experience in a festival just celebrating the end of winter.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival [Weekend One & Two]

14-16 + 21-23 April / Indio, California

But is there really anywhere you would like to be other than Coachella?

There aren’t really many festivals that can achieve what Coachella already and consecutively does: being a world-known trend-setter festival clinging to its identity. And yes, even when nowadays every type of person may step foot in this huge circus of musical acts, this year’s headliners – Radiohead, Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar – are definitely class acts for all kinds of ears. As for the rest of the line-up, choose five great contemporary acts and you can probably find three of them playing there. Still, be sure to do not miss Father John Misty, Bon Iver and New Order. Oh, and do we have to remind you Hans Zimmer will do a one and only concert of the many OSTs he is responsible for? Or actually there will be two shows, since Coachella has provided us the one-for-two deal since 2012, repeating the line-up  two weekends back to back. A fitting scenario, as Coachella is able to consistently give you the chance to see the bands that have probably been a part of your life OST.

Euphoria

6-9 April / Austin, Texas

Everything is bigger in Texas, so we expect major names from Austin’s Euphoria. It’s easy to be excited and surprised to see such a wide selection of urban contemporary acts, with plenty of artists from different genres.

Namedropping a few: rap artists Wiz Khalifa and Young Thug, EDM enthusiasts Alesso, Knife Party and Alan Walker, electronic music dinosaur Moby, electrofunk and rocking duo Chromeo and even hot prospects as Bob Moses and many more. Some quality here, no doubt.

Welcome to Rockville

29-30 April / Jacksonville, Florida

Finally, here’s a shout out to the hard rock fans out there: Florida is the state to be by the end of April. Fort Rock at Fort Myers and Rockville, Jacksonville will both feature strong hard rock acts by the 29th and 30th. Soundgarden, Def Leppard, Offspring and Mastodon are a few of the many names that will feature in both festivals, making it hard for the fans to decide which Monster Drink festival to choose. Eventually, if you’re a huge fan of any of those bands, why not making it double and attend both festivals?
